My name is Lori Lawson and I have been teaching piano since 1999. I completed my Bachelors degree in music with an emphasis in piano pedagogy from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse in the spring of 2002. Being the granddaughter of a piano teacher, I began taking piano lessons when I was 9 years old. Music was my first love and my constant companion, but my career path led me in a different direction. I was the only microbiologist in my lab with a music staff painted on the back of my lab coat. In 1995 I married the love of my life, a fellow musician. We spent the next several years performing in various bands where I played bass guitar, acoustic guitar, sang, and wrote songs. I went back to college with a desire to learn everything I could about music. Originally a theory/composition major, I switched to piano pedagogy when it became clear my true passion was teaching. I opened my own music studio in January of 2000 and have been teaching ever since. My husband and I went on to have two wonderful children. When I’m not teaching or playing music, I enjoy gardening, reading science/fantasy fiction, photography, fishkeeping, studying Korean, and spending time with my friends and family.
I am a member of the Music Teachers National Association, the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association, and the La Crosse Area Music Teachers Association and eligible to enter my students in all related competitions, events, and contests.
